Frequently Asked Questions
Pipehawk is an unclassified mobile field application designed specifically for U.S. Army Civil Affairs soldiers. It helps CA teams document engagements, manage Area of Operations profiles, plan Key Leader Engagements, track fitness, and access AI-powered doctrine assistance — all from their mobile device.
No. Pipehawk is designed exclusively for UNCLASSIFIED use only. Never enter classified information, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), or any operationally sensitive data that could compromise OPSEC. Users are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable information security regulations including AR 380-5 and DoD Manual 5200.01.
When you open Pipehawk for the first time, you will see a login screen. Tap "Create Account," choose a username and password, and your account will be created instantly. Your data is securely stored in the cloud and will sync across any device you sign in to.
Your data is stored in a secure cloud database. We use industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- bcrypt password hashing (passwords are never stored in plain text)
- Session-based authentication with secure 30-day cookies
- Per-user data isolation (no other user can see your data)
The AI assistant uses a large language model to answer Civil Affairs doctrine questions, generate talking points for KLEs, help with PMESII analysis, and assist with operational planning. AI responses are for reference only — always verify against official publications (FM 3-57, ATP 3-57 series, etc.) before use. Do not enter classified or sensitive information into the AI chat.
Pipehawk requires an internet connection to sync data and use the AI assistant. Reference content (doctrine, uniforms, airborne procedures, land navigation) within the app is available as it is built into the application itself. Full offline capability is on our development roadmap.
You can delete all your data from the Profile screen inside the app by tapping "Clear All Data." To request full account deletion, email us at Markfowens@gmail.com with your username and we will permanently delete your account and all associated data.
Try these steps in order:
- Force-close the app and reopen it
- Check your internet connection
- Sign out and sign back in from the Profile screen
- Delete and reinstall the app (your cloud data will be preserved)
- If the issue persists, contact us at Markfowens@gmail.com with a description of the problem
No. Pipehawk is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or officially connected with the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Civil Affairs, USASOC, or any government agency. It is an independent productivity tool developed for CA professionals. All doctrine references are derived from publicly available U.S. Government publications.
From the Profile screen, tap "Export Data" under the Data section. You can export engagements, AFT scores, height/weight records, contacts, taskers, and more in PDF or Word format.
